Our Beliefs

How many times have you heard it said, “We all worship the same God?”  Have you ever wondered what the difference is between different Christian denominations?

These questions are easily answered by looking at the teachings, called doctrines, of different religions or denominations.  Here is a brief overview of what we believe:

SCRIPTURES

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God and that it is our authority in all matters of faith and practice. For reasons of unity within the church and textural integrity we choose to use the King James version of the Bible.

2 Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:20-21

SOVEREIGN GOD

God is a Person, eternally existing, as a Trinity in unity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – three Persons and yet one God.

Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, I Corinthians 8:6

THE SON

Jesus  Christ, eternally existing, is the only begotten Son of God, who became a sinless man to redeem us. He was born of a virgin and is fully God and fully man.

Luke 1:30-55, John 1:1-15, Philippians 2:5-8

SERVICE

The local church is a group of believers baptized by water and banded together for encouragement, exhortation, and evangelism as commanded by Christ in the Great Commission, preaching the Gospel to every creature.

Mark 16:15, I Corinthians 12:12, Ephesians 1:22-23

SIN

Man was created in the image of God but fell through sin, bringing not only physical death, but also spiritual death or eternal separation from God. Now all of mankind exists as a fallen race with an inherited sinful nature.

Genesis 2:16, Genesis 3:16-19, Romans 3:10-23, Romans 6:23

SACRIFICE OF CHRIST

The Lord Jesus Christ suffered and died as a substitutionary payment for the sins of the whole world. He physically arose from the dead and then ascended into Heaven. Simple faith in this sacrifice is the only way of salvation for mankind.

Luke 24, Acts 1:9-11, Romans 5:8-10, I Peter 3:18

END TIMES

Jesus Christ Himself will soon come again in the air to catch up His Church to reward their service. The unbelievers left behind will go through a period called the Tribulation, after which Christ will return to the Earth to set up His Kingdom of one thousand years of righteous rule. After this, the unbelievers of all ages will stand at the Great White Throne to be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire, separated from God forever, while the believers spend eternity in the fullness of joy in Heaven with the Lord.

Matthew 24:29-42, I Thessalonians 4:16-18, Revelation 19:11-20:13

STEWARDSHIP OF FINANCES

1. We acknowledge that God owns all we have.

We believe that everything that is good on the earth is from God and that we are merely stewards of God’s possessions.

James 1:17, 1 Chronicles 29:11-12, Haggai. 2:5-8, Colossians 1:16-17, 1 Corinthians 4:1

2. We will trust God knowing that He will supply all of our needs.

We acknowledge that God leads us and provides all that we need to achieve His objectives.

Matthew 6:31-33, Philippians 4:19, 2 Corinthians 9:6-8, Ephesians 3:20

3. We will teach and model scriptural giving, knowing that God will multiply.

Genesis 14:17-20, Deuteronomy 14:22, Malachi 3:5-12, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2, 2 Corinthians 8:3-7

4. We will obey God’s command to send missionaries throughout the world.

We will not allow missions giving to be decreased in order to support other ongoing ministries.

Acts 1:8, Philippians 4:10-17, 2 Corinthians 8:1-9, Acts 13:1-2

5. We will be good managers, believing that God is the owner and He will reward our faithfulness.

Matthew 25:14-30, 1 Corinthians 4:12, 2 Corinthians 8:20-21

a. Faithfulness with managing worldly wealth brings a spiritual reward. Luke 16:11

We believe the Scriptures tell us to be content with little or much and to give God thanks in all things.
